The curious case of the refugee travel ban

Day three of President Donald J. Trump’s seven-nation immigrant ban, and things are getting curiouser and curiouser.

Trump supporters say he’s just following former President Barack Obama’s lead, then claim Obama did nothing to prevent terrorism. Well, which is it? It can’t be both.

Then The New York Times reports that since nature abhors a vacuum, the Chinese – hardly the paragon of democracy – are ready to step in and lead the free world in free trade, which is looking mighty good to the Europeans. So much for making America great again. At this rate, we won’t be the world’s sole superpower, as the Trumpettes keep thumping. We’ll be lucky if we’re No. 3.

Then Trump supporters claim this is a preemptive strike. With that reasoning, they might as well cut off their privates just in case they might get testicular cancer down the road. Forget compassion, calm and common sense. Where is their courage?

Meanwhile, what do Trump supporters think about the anti-immigrant advocate Alexandre Bissonnette, who allegedly killed six and wounded eight in a Quebec City mosque Sunday?

“Muslim Canadians are valued members of every community and wherever they live they deserve to feel safe. They are home here,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said, speaking at a memorial near the mosque in the Ste. Foy neighborhood Monday. “We are all Canadians. Let peace unite us all.”

Oh, Prime Minister, for your lips to God’s ears.
