Maine Sen. Susan Collins – a holdout on the Senate Republicans Health Care Bill. But for how long now that the heat is on?

With apologies to Mark Twain, reports of the Senate Health Care Bill’s demise have been greatly exaggerated.

It’s like one of those horror movies in which you think the evil guy is dead, but then a hand rises from the grave or you hear a chainsaw.

They’re ba-ack. Those rascally Republicans – told to mush by President Trumpet – are going to try again with a vote on repeal or replace or repeal and replace, something with an r. They have to do something, anything, because, let’s face it, they’ve done nothing. Apart from Neil Gorsuch and a partial travel ban, Trump’s come up short.

So he and the Repubs are like the family that goes on vacation and buys a hunk of junk at the airport on their last day, because they have no souvenirs. Nice, particularly for the estimated 32 million people – many of them children – who will lose their health care.

Of course, the administration and Congress could get something done if they weren’t so distracted by the sideshow known as Russkie-gate. While Trump was getting some extra face time with Vladdie “Rootin’ Tootin’” Putin at the G20, Congress was busy issuing invitations to Trump No. 1 Son Donnie Jr., son-in-law Jared Kushner and campaign manager Paul Manafort to testify next week.

Health care. Russkiegate. D.C.  Dog days.

The heat is on.
